INSTRUCTIONS FOR POSTER-


TITLE

 

INTRODUCTION: describe your question, why it is interesting and if, appropriate, place it in the context of other literature.

 

METHODS: what did you do? what animals did you use (scientific names as well as common names; note that scientific names must be italicized: Anaxyrus americanus), you might want to include a diagram or photo of your set-up or apparatus if appropriate.

 

RESULTS:  graphs, figures, tables, all with legends and brief narrative. Photos of your critters can be useful.

 

CONCLUSIONS: what do your data mean? what is the significance of your data?  place your results in the context of prior literature (using correct scientific citation).  Examples: “Jones (1999) noted that...” “Our data are not consistent with prior studies (Bolt and Robbins, 2003;  Steed, et al., 2002)”. do next?

 

REFERENCES: use a consistent scientific format (using any of the papers we have read as a template) and cite at least 2 primary references

 

Format: put your poster into a one-slide format in powerpoint by setting the “page set-up” to 40” x 30”. Save it as a pdf and then send it to me as an attachment via email.

REMEMBER THAT A POSTER IS NOT A PAPER THAT HAS BEEN CHOPPED UP. IT IS ITS OWN MEDIUM OF COMMUNICATION (VISUAL)!  THINK ABOUT MAKING THE ESSENTIAL PARTS OF YOUR ARGUMENTS STAND OUT.
