This page presents an album of the 2005 version of the Bennington College Desert Ecology class.  The class will be taught  again in January of 2008.

Desert Ecology was
 - a  4-credit, Bennington College class

 - 3 weeks in the Sonoran Desert of  Arizona,

 - full-immersion natural history

 - a field biology research practicum

 - independent research projects
 - visits with researchers and conservation managers

 - museums, research stations, world-class natural areas
 - a journal

  - group living (camp-sites, bunkhouses...)

 - history and effects of many cultures

 - problems in land-management and conservation
 - sun and warm weather (with some chilly nights)

 - hiking, cooking, eating, talking, exploring, etc...
